It's official...

My dog is deaf. Yup, completely deaf.



Cynder is up around 15 years old now and that's pretty much near the end of the line for a Shih Tzu. At this point I think she has only one tooth, she has cataracts, she's constantly farting. The old girl is falling apart at the seams. She sleeps most of the day but she seems really, really happy when we go for our walks, when she's eating, or when we are snuggling up together. Pretty much the same things that make me happy.

Recently she started to not listen to me when I would give her a command. I was wondering why all of a sudden she was turning into this bad, defiant dog. Then the thought popped in my mind... "What if she can't hear me?" So the other night I came home from work and tested that theory. The video above shows the results. Completely deaf.

Since I found out I have been much more touchy feely with her. I constantly pull her over to me so that we are at least touching. I wake her up a lot during the day and spend time with her. She seems to appreciate it. I love my stinky old deaf dog and I'm treasuring the time she has left here with me.

Hey guys, after all of the work, traveling and personal stuff that has gone on during the past few months I needed a break. I mean a REAL break. So I loaded up my truck, threw the dog in, and headed up to the Russian River for a few days of camping in the woods.

Just what the doctor ordered.

I'm up here until Sunday and then it's back to the San Francisco and getting myself ready for the new direction my life is going in starting on Monday. I'll give more details about that later. For now, let's just say that I was presented with a good opportunity from some good people and I'm excited for the future.

Kansas City Pride at Hamburger Mary's

I'm finally back home... hopefully for a while! The trip to Kansas City was awesome and more than a little exhausting. Hamburger Mary's had so many great events for PRIDE weekend and I pretty much attended all of them. Jeff and Eric, the owners, were extremely gracious hosts. Back at home I've finally unpacked after months and months of traveling. I'm about half way through painting my bedroom (ya, I started painting it like 6 months ago but this time I'm finishing it!). Next up, I'm going to paint my bathroom... purple. Don't judge till you see it. I also bought some kick-ass animation software, signed up for a webinar course, and am teaching myself some new skills. Hopefully, you will see some Nick Moretti style animations real soon! I also went out and bought a new Betta Fish to replace the one that died last month. It's a kind I never had before and he is beautiful! I named this one Fish. Too tired to think up a better name, I guess. Here are some photos from the weekend.
